Finding Your Way With Traceroute

Here is another great additional resource referenced in my CCENT and CCNA Exam Crams! Remember, traceroute is an IP service that allows utilization of the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) and the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) to identify the number of hops between sending and receiving devices and the paths taken from the sending to the receiving device. Traceroute also provides the IP address and DNS name of each hop. Typically, traceroute is used to troubleshoot IP connectivity between two devices.
