MicroNugget: CCIE v5 Documentation

In this MicroNugget, I discuss the concept of using Cisco documentation during the CCIE version 5 lab exam. This MicroNugget directly relates to my and Keith Barker’s Cisco CCIE Routing and Switching v5 All-In-One training course.

  1. Hi Anthony,

I hope you don’t mind me asking you a question? – I have watched you videos on the Cisco CCIE documentation etc. and where to get the correct information on what is covered in the practical exam and I have made a check list in excel but I am confused on one of the topics if it’s covered or not? Is IPv6 over MPLS covered in the new v5 CCIE Lab – In the sense that the MPLS Core will be addressed in IPv6? Or would you expect it that a MPLS core be in IPv4 then to Tunnel / MPBGP / L3VPN over the IPv6 Traffic to different end to end points / customers? Or both?

I hope this makes sense and any help would be great or pointers

    Many thanks

    John Merry

P.S Thanks for all your help and videos so far looking forward to the next ones 🙂

    1. Yes – I have to guess at this point – but I am still leaning toward an IPv4 infrastructure in the Configuration section with pockets of IPV6. I think the big change with IPv6 is that every test will have it now – instead of some tests not having it. I think we are still premature to see IPv6 built cores.

    1. The CCIE Routing and Switching (R&S) Written and Lab exams are being revised from v4.0 to v5.0 to align with changing industry job roles and the addition of new study materials. The last day to test for both the Written and Lab v4.0 exams will be June 3, 2014. The CCIE R&S Written and Lab exams v5.0 will be available for testing beginning June 4, 2014.
