Overview:
I was thrilled to be tasked with creating new Nuggets on the topic of Enterprise Routing and Switching for Juniper networks. I quickly decided on two important approaches for this new training. First, I decided to break the topic up into seven courses so that I could really go into great detail. Second, I decided to separate these Nuggets clearly on theory, then Juniper specific stuff. This will be great for Cisco, Arista, HP, and other students that want to learn these important technologies, but could care very little for how specifics are carried out on Juniper gear.
The New Routing and Switching Courses:
Here is the breakdown of the new courses:

- JNCIS-ENT(JN0-343)- OSPF
- JNCIS-ENT(JN0-343)- IS-IS

- JNCIS-ENT(JN0-343)- High Availability

Careful – there are two exams you can choose from for this cert – you take one or the other – not both. One is for the older switch commands and one is for the newer. I am teaching the “classic” commands, but I show how to easily convert if you want the new commands.

On a cluster SRX240H, I connected port ge-0/0/15 and ge-5/0/15 (reth0 vlan-tagging) to 2 virtual chassis EX4200 port ge-0/0/23 and ge-1/0/23 (ae0 lacp and trunk) respectively. Weird things, it’s only see the first VLAN. I did some digging on the net and some said the HA/redundancy between SRX240 clusters and EX4200 won’t work. I have upgraded EX4200s to 15.1R1.8 and SRXes to 12.1X46-D40.2. what have I’ve done wrong? Thanks for your time and your help.

watching ccie R&S layer 3 video. i must say am not really impressed with the way you handle your teaching. like you focus more on command line and not really teaching the technology.
i was watching multicast and all i could gather was how to run the commands but not understanding the technology like when compared to former IPX instructor MAcko teaching of multicast( he broke it all down step by step and detailed.

I would like to have your opinion on this, I’m working on my ccie rs,and I’m about 40% there, but i also want to get mcse and lately you have done great thing with Juniper, so if you were me what would you do? Go all the way to ccie or get mcse and juniper first and then tackle your ccie?

Hi Rainy! The answer is – it depends! What do you plan on doing with your career. For example, if you are going to work for some rare all-Cisco enterprise, or maybe Cisco themselves, then the CCIE R&S might be the way to go. But if you are going to be working with many different technologies, like most engineers today, then a mix of skills will be more valuable. Perhaps something like CCNP R&S, JNCIS, MCSE, etc! Try and determine what you are most passionate about, and where you would most like to take your career!
